Beatrice participates in opening ceremony
Year 11 student Beatrice Tucker, accompanied by Principal, Dr Paul Burgis, represented PLC Sydney at the opening of the Pitt Wood Village in Ashfield on Monday 12 October.
The new complex was officially opened by the Governor of NSW, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d).
As part of the formalities, Beatrice delighted guests with a beautiful rendition of 'Advance Australia Fair'.
The opening was also attended by Ashfield Council Deputy Mayor and Councillor, Mr Alex Lofts, Presbyterian Aged Care Committee Chairman, Mr Bruce Christian, Reverend Paul Logan, on behalf of the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, Ms Anne Ball, Convenor, Market Committee, Presbyterian Women’s Association, Committee Members of the Presbyterian Aged Care, Members of Presbyterian Women’s Association, and Pitt Wood Village site mangers and residents.
The development is centred on the heritage listed Pitt Wood House, which has been refurbished to house Presbyterian Aged Care’s Inner West community care services, with a secure area for dementia day care, as well as space for the current day therapy and respite programs. The project includes 23 independent living units provided in a new building to the north of Pitt Wood House and two villa units to its south. Residents are now moving into their new homes.
