Changes to public transport ticketing

On 4 August 2015, The Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Andrew Constance, announced that the next stage in modernising the public transport network will arrive on 1 January 2016 with the retirement of 57 magnetic stripe tickets.

These include the:

  • MyFerry Concession TravelTen
  • MyMulti Weekly tickets
  • Pensioner Excursion Ticket (PET)

Please note that the discounted MyMulti 2/3 90 and 365 day tickets are still available through Online Tickets (at https://tickets.sydneytrains.info/).

International students should continue to use their pass as they currently do until it expires, or until they are advised otherwise by Transport for NSW and/or their school or educational facility.

This change further supports the move to Opal electronic ticketing. For full details, please visit: transportnsw.info.

If you have any queries regarding this process, please contact the Online team at: tickets@transport.nsw.gov.au
