Year 8 Visual Arts success

Issue 1115_Visual Arts2The Visual Arts Faculty were recently notified that Ling Ling Lin in Year 8 Visual Arts was selected as a Finalist for the annual Silk Cut Print Awards. Ling Ling’s linocut Decay depicting Shubra Hall and the Rose Garden (pictured) was selected for the student section of the Prize to be held at Glen Eira City Council Gallery, Melbourne from 5-20 September 2015.

The Silk Cut Award is one of the richest print awards in Australia, with prizes and acquisitions in the Open, Tertiary and Student sections totalling more than $20,000 in value. The annual award attracts an incredibly high standard of entries from Australian and international artists and the Grand Prize has become a highly sought after award, which provides generous rewards and recognition. For more information go to www.silkcutlino.com.

This is the first year PLC Sydney has entered student works for this award as the standard of the Year 8 linocut prints was so high. Congratulations to Ling Ling for achieving such a unique and expressive result within the lino printing medium and for being selected as a finalist in this prestigious prize. Good luck!
