Congratulations to all the students who competed in the 2015 regional Snow Sports Championships.

With some very tough conditions, including limited snow and competition, the fact that we placed second overall in the Junior School category was a fantastic achievement.

Some outstanding individual results were achieved by our Snow Sports Captain Madeleine Dahan who placed 2nd and 3rd overall in both her snowboard events. Sisters, Clare (Year 5) and Emma Bosco (Year 7), are the Regional Champions winning the Division 5 and 3 Moguls titles, respectively.

Team events resulted in the following girls being invited to the State Championships, which will be held in Perisher from 25 August:

Division 2 Snowboard placed 2nd in Snowboard GS and 3rd in Boardercross:
Harriet Lambert, (Year 10) Lilli Glenn (Year 9) and Phoebe Cridland (Year 8)

Division 2 Moguls team placed 1st:
Emma Bosco (Year 7), Georgia Coote (Year 7) and Phoebe Cridland (Year 8).

Junior school teams had podium results with our Division 4 Moguls team comprised of Clare Bosco (Year 5) and Imogen Howell (Year 6) finishing 3rd and our Division 5 team of Alessandra Sydun-West, Dominique De Souza and Xanthia Coote placing 2nd.

Well done to our youngest and newest competitors, Ellie Kwan (Year 2) and Anastasia Watson (Year 3), competing in their first ever ski races. Our very vocal and enthusiastic group of Years 7 and 8 students also represented PLC Sydney proudly.

Issue 1015_Sports_DivingCongratulations to Lauren Flint in Year 6 (pictured left) who competed in the Elite Junior Nationals for Diving. The Elite National Championships are reserved for athletes who have been selected for their state’s High Performance programs. Lauren performed extremely well exceeding everyone’s expectations by finishing 4th in 3 metre springboard, 3rd in the 1 metre springboard and 1st in the Platform event. Lauren’s results earned her the prestigious award for the ‘most outstanding new talent’ of the championships.

CIS Football Cup

The CIS Football Cup is a knock-out tournament that is open to all independent schools throughout NSW. PLC Sydney made it into the semi-finals against Pymble. The game was played on Wednesday 15 July at Valentine Park, Glenwood – an amazing sports facility that hosts two Astro Turf football fields. For some of our players it was their first experience on turf. It is fair to say that our girls were out-classed by the Pymble team going down 9-0. However, they held strong for the first 20 minutes of the first half and played a much more determined, tighter second half. Despite the loss, at the end of the game our girls were reminded that they had finished in the top four schools out of 29 teams that entered – a great achievement.
