Our 2020 Year 12 Sporting Stars

Our 2020 Year 12 Sporting Stars

Three Year 12 students are the well deserved recipients of the PLC Sydney Representative Blazer. They are:

Emma Bosco, Chelsey Johnson and Anna Dowling

EMMA BOSCO – MOGULS (SNOW SPORTS)

Emma has been a long-standing member of the Australian Moguls Academy. In 2018 she was selected into the NSWIS moguls squad and in 2019 was subsequently named in the Australian Mogul Ski Team. This team is considered Australia’s most successful Winter Sports team, with Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics in their sights. In early 2020, Emma’s Australian representative snow season focused predominantly in the Northern hemisphere. Traveling with her Australian team members for 3 to 4 months of the year, Emma competed for Australia in the NorAm competitions (competitions with the best mogul skiers from North America) and had some great results. At the Deer Valley and Calgary mogul events, Emma made the finals (top 16) on all competition days and achieved a top 10 result throughout these competitions.

CHELSEY JOHNSON – BIATHLON (SNOW SPORTS)

In 2019 Chelsey was selected into the Australian Biathlon Development Team and the Australian Winter Youth Olympic team. In January 2020 she competed in Biathlon at the Youth Olympics, held in Lausanne, Switzerland. Biathlon is a sport of two disciplines, cross country skiing and rifle target shooting, and is highly competitive, especially amongst European countries. Chelsey placed 60th (out of 94 competitors) in her individual race and obtained personal best results in both her individual and sprint races. Chelsey had the best overall shooting result out of all female and male competitors at the Games, being the only athlete to miss only two targets (28/30). Chelsey was the second-best Australian female at the conclusion of the Games after starting the competition ranked third.

ANNA DOWLING - POLO

Current Year 12 student and sport recipient, Anna Dowling, received her representative blazer in 2019 for representing Australia in Polo at the 2018 World Youth Olympic Games in Argentina. Anna was selected due to her rank as the number one junior female polo player in Australia.

We congratulate each of these girls and wish them well in their future sporting endeavours.
