Team work brings double the rewards for PLC Sydney at IGSSA Carnival
Team effort: PLC Sydney Swim team celebrates after winning the senior points score trophy at the 2016 IGSSA Carnival.
PLC Sydney has achieved excellent results in both Swimming and Diving at this year's IGSSA Carnival.
The Swimming team won the IGSSA senior points score trophy after losing the title to Abbotsleigh by just six points last year. It was a wonderful team effort with many individuals forgoing individual events to strengthen the relays, and gain the school maximum points. Whilst PLC Sydney did not win a single individual award, both the Junior and Senior Teams won their point scores.
Congratulations go to the Senior Relay teams who won both gold medals and broke both IGSSA records. The team of Emily Racki (Year 12), Deborah To (Year 12), Sarah Kemp (Year 11) and Chloe Yoo (Year 11) broke the Senior Medley Relay record, with Emily, Deborah, Sarah and Vivian Zhu (Year 12) breaking the Senior Freestyle Relay Record.
The Intermediate Medley Relay team comprised of Megan McConnell (Year 11), Karli Musarra (Year 10), Olivia Morris (Year 10) and Mariah Moshovis (Year 9) also broke the IGSSA record with their gold medal swim. Mariah Moshovis also set a new record for the 15 years 50m Breaststroke with an amazing time of 33.41 secs.
The PLC Sydney Diving team also performed exceptionally well, finishing second in the Division 1 IGSSA Diving Carnival. It was a close race with only five points separating first and second places. Of the 16 strong team 12 divers made it through to CIS. A highlight of the day was Eloise Cain (Year 8) taking out the Intermediate Champion at just 13 years of age.
Congratulations go to all students, staff and coaches for their hard work, commitment and enthusiasm to achieve these wonderful results.
