PLC Sydney Athletes Claim National Titles


Congratulations to Haley Mills (Year 8), Emily Moloney (Year 8), Sarah Clifton-Bligh (Year 8) and Abigail Stevanovic (Year 10) who competed in the 2017 Australian Junior Athletics Championships, with Sarah also competing in the 2017 Australian Open Athletics Championships, held at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre from 26 March to 2 April. Sarah and Abigail were successful in taking home national titles.

At the Junior Championships, Abigail claimed the national title for the U16 200m Hurdles while also competing in the 90m Hurdles and 200m. Sarah finished just outside the medals in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m U16 wheelchair events. Emily competed in the U15 3000m and 2000m Steeplechase and Haley in the U15 3000m Walk.  

Following this was the Open Championships where Sarah overcame a number of Olympic Athletes to take four Australian Titles: Javelin (F33 category) Australian Junior Record; 100m (F32 category) Australian Junior Record and world leading performance; 200m (F32 category) Australian Junior Record and world leading performance; and the 400m.
