Lions Youth of the Year update
Congratulations to Kendall Lane (Year 12) who was declared winner of the Public Speaking section at a recent Lions Club of Yagoona event. Her topic was euthanasia and assisted dying, referencing her own personal experience of her great-grandmother's suffering in her final days. She presented with sincerity and without notes, establishing a sensitive connection with her material and audience.
Kendall prepared a comprehensive CV, responded to questions posed by a panel in a formal interview, delivered responses to two impromptu questions then delivered a five minute speech.
Youth of the Year is designed to encourage student interest in leadership and the qualities required to take an active and constructive role in the community. It begins in June/July and culminates with final judging and the announcement of the winners at the Multiple District Convention, normally held in May.
