Wicked Science Holiday Program Jan 2017
PLC Sydney regularly runs school holiday short courses in various subjects for the benefit of PLC Sydney students and the wider community.
During the forthcoming Christmas Holidays, the Extension Centre will be running the following course in January 2017:
WICKED SCIENCE HOLIDAY FUN
Join us for some holiday science fun where we will learn about interesting Science phenomenon like Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), evolution, secrets of the brain, timeline of technology and interesting inventions. These topics will be covered in three consecutive days in an engaging and interactive learning environment. On the third day, students will have the opportunity to explore the Science Museum (Questacon) in Canberra, through a day return trip.
- Date: Wednesday 18 and Friday 20 January 2017
- Time: 9.00 am – 2.00 pm (Wed/Thurs) and 7.00 am - 8.00 pm on Friday
- Presenter: Vanessa Romero
- Venue: The Extension Centre, PLC Sydney
- Cost: $550.00 for the three days
The cost is inclusive of all materials, return bus trip to Canberra, entry into Questacon and dinner on the way home.
Students are required to bring their own lunch and play-lunch daily.

(*The course is limited to a maximum 14 students, but will run with a minimum of 8 students.)
WHO CAN ATTEND THIS COURSE?
The course is open to students who are:
- currently attending Saturday classes at the Extension Centre, or
- have attended SPEC classes (PLC Sydney Junior School special extended classes)
- who are in Years 3 to 5
- demonstrate a high level of academic achievement.
Day 1: Wednesday 18th January 2017
Topics: DNA, fingerprints, evolution and how the brain works
Time: 9am - 2pm
Day 2: Thursday 19th January 2017
Topics: Timeline of technology (the evolution of technology such as mobile phones) and weird and interesting inventions
Time: 9am - 2pm
Day 3: Friday 20th January 2017
Students will have the opportunity to explore a Science Museum (Questacon) in Canberra. On a day return trip.
Time: 7am - 8pm (students may arrive earlier depending on traffic conditions).
NB: Students will be making stops at McDonalds at the start of the trip and at the end of the trip. Students can bring money for morning tea if they wish to purchase a meal. The Extension Centre will purchase a meal for each child for dinner.
Friday Night Pick Up: A group message will be sent to the Parent/Guardian to inform them when their child/children arrive back at school.
