Spotlight On

Our Alumni are a diverse group of individuals who live and work across the globe and have interesting stories to tell about their time at PLC Sydney, as well as their journeys after graduation. 

Many have made, and continue to make, their mark and achieve excellence in a variety of fields such as business, medicine, arts, government and the not for profit sector. Others continue to learn, discover, lead, create, innovate and make a difference not only in the lives of their families but also in their wider communities. Here are just some of their stories.

Some of PLC SYDNEY’S NOTABLE ALUMNI ARE:

  • Millicent Baxter (nee Brown, 1906) – Pacifist and Peace activist
  • Sybil Enid Vera Munro Morrison (nee Gibbs,1912) – first female Barrister to practice in New South Wales
  • Jessie Aspinall (1930) – first female junior Medical Officer at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital
  • Marie Byles (1916) – first practising female Solicitor in New South Wales
  • Olive Rose Fitzhardinge (nee McMaster, 1898)  – breeder of heritage tea roses and patented 12 varieties in 1930s
  • Susan Fraser (nee Dorsch,1951) – first female Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Sydney
  • Elizabeth Webby AM (Loader, 1958) – Emeritus Professor Australian Literation, University of Sydney
  • Carolyn Simpson (1963) – Justice of the Supreme Court of NSW
  • Kerry Nettle (1991) – Former Australian Senator 
  • Margaret Pomeranz AM (nee Owen, 1961) – Film critic and TV host
  • Kathleen Cuningham (nee Clouston, 1915) – Pioneer in Breast Cancer research
