Drama ex-student kate betcher graduates from wappa

Kate Betcher (class of 2013) had a stellar Drama career at PLC Sydney. She was an elective Drama student and relished the various challenges presented by the rigorous BOSTES course. Kate also featured in a number of co-curricular productions directed by her Drama teacher and Year Director, Mrs Maria Halkidis. Kate debuted as Alice in Alice in Wonderland, took a comic turn in the classic farce Noises Off and dazzled as the senior romantic lead in The Boyfriend. Kate’s work was always professional and it was obvious from an early age that her talents were driven by creativity and dedication.

Upon finishing school Kate decided to audition for WAPPA (Australia’s premier Tertiary Drama school along with NIDA). Students very rarely get accepted to WAPPA straight from school and of the thousands who audition, only 20 are selected into the Acting Course. It was with great pride that Kate was accepted at the conclusion of her HSC examinations.

After three incredible years at WAPPA Kate has recently graduated. At a recent industry showcase event for casting directors, the following was noted in her program bio, 'When Kate performed in her first play at age 14 she realised that acting was her true passion…' That play was the 2011 PLC Sydney middle years production - Alice in Wonderland

The Drama department is very proud of Kate’s wonderful achievements and looks forward to following her future theatrical endeavours.
