She spoke about the works Kiata produced during the residency and how the influence of Arthur Boyd -his life and work- is evident in a variety of ways, conceptually and visually.
Students Heidi Watkins and Maggie O’Reilly then shared with the audience some fond memories of their time at the three-day camp, a highlight being an impromptu talent quest. Head of Visual Arts Ms Jo Knight addressed the crowd, congratulating the girls on their efforts and thanking Kiata Mason for her participation in the Artist-in-Residence program at PLC Sydney. Ms Knight also congratulated Curator Ms Courtney Wagner who departs on 31 May to complete a month-long professional experience placement awarded by the Australia Council the Arts at the Venice Biennale. To close the proceedings Art and Design Captain Claire Shi presented Ms Mason with a gift on behalf of the students and staff at PLC wishing her all the best in her future endeavours.
