HSC Design Exhibition 2018
This year’s HSC Design Exhibition, showcasing major projects by Year 12 students of Design and Technology (D&T) and Textiles and Design (T&D), opened at Adelaide Perry Gallery on Tuesday 31 July. The event was catered for by Year 11 Food Technology students, under the guidance of Mrs Cathy Wedd, whose excellent finger food and refreshments greeted the Gallery visitors.
Claire Shi, who will commence her role as 2019 Art & Design Captain in Term 4 introduced guest speaker Miss Savvena Christoforou, whose 2017 T&D major project was exhibited in the Shape 2017 and Texstyle 2018 exhibitions. Savvena reflected on her experience of completing her Major Textiles Project and spoke encouragingly to this year’s HSC students, offering valuable and practical advice for achieving a successful project and describing the rewards on offer when you put the work in.
Head of Technological and Applied Studies, Ms Jo Herrmann, continued the official proceedings, commending this year’s HSC D&T and T&D students. She spoke with appreciation of the support from teachers, friends and family that is invaluable for students completing a major project.
Awards were then presented to the following students:
Outstanding Effort and Project Development D&T: Elena Koskinas
Consistent Effort in Project Development D&T: Georgia Galanos
Creative and Innovative Design T&D: Cate Caldis
Outstanding Effort and Project Development T&D: Elena Koskinas
On behalf of their classes were presented to Mrs Maria Nastasi (T&D) and Ms Nadine Emans (D&T) by Cate Caldis & Georgie Allen respectively.
To close proceedings, Elena Koskinas, Art and Design Captain thanked Miss Christoforou for her participation at the event. Gallery Curator Mr Mark Hetherington extended his appreciation to the staff at the Croydon and congratulated the girls on their achievements in bringing the exhibition together.
