2020 PERRY PRIZE WINNER
ADELAIDE PERRY PRIZE FOR DRAWING 2020 – PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD ANNOUNCED
In March Adelaide Perry Gallery exhibited 43 finalist works in the fifteenth Perry Prize and invited visitors to cast their vote for the People’s Choice award, valued at $2,000.
Sydney artist Joshua Charadia’s astounding charcoal on paper work, Peripheral View 45, pictured, has been voted their favourite.
Of the drawing Charadia states: "Peripheral View 45 is part of a series of works in which I take industrial scenes, photographed in passing, and render them in the “slow” medium of charcoal. Through drawing, I afford time to these usually fleeting images of shipping containers and terminals, and hope to make visible what can often go unseen. Ubiquitous yet overlooked, these objects are containers of capital: vital cogs in the unceasing machine of globalisation and chess pieces in an indifferent global market place.”
Congratulations Joshua! We love it!
