PLC SYDNEY'S 2016 SENIOR PRODUCTION:
Directed by Mrs Heather Clark.
To celebrate the 400 year anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death, PLC Sydney’s senior drama students are proud to present his final play, The Tempest. Not only is the play a prescribed text for the HSC English Area of Study, it is a rollicking, playful text that draws together the universal themes of love, betrayal and forgiveness.
The Tempest, is set on a remote island, where the sorcerer Prospero (the rightful Duke of Milan) who has been exiled to twelve years earlier, plots his revenge having been banished to the island and usurped by his brother Antonio. Prospero plots to restore his daughter Miranda to her rightful place using illusion and manipulation by conjuring up a storm to lure his brother Antonio and the complicit King Alonso of Naples to the island. Here, his machinations bring about the revelation of Antonio's true nature, the redemption of the King, and the marriage of Miranda to Alonso's son, Ferdinand.
